How can I express
all the gratitude I feel
for those who are selfless
and willing to fight for me?
A simple thank you will not suffice
so let me take this time to devise
a few simple lines for those who serve.

others I will never know, yet you deserve
as much love and acclaim.

and as I hold back my tears of fierce pride
